Cap'n EJ

I had the awesome opportunity to make a birthday card for my friend E.J. who turned 5 on Thursday.  He's is all about Pirates and Supermen and just being a great Super kid. So Happy Birthday E.J. Hope you were blessed beyond measure this year.

I used Mo's image called "Captain Hugh" and can be found here on her site. The background papers are all digital, the ribbon from my decreasing stack of SU Ribbon. I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz ink and used a little Glossy Accent on his telescope. Of course colored it up with copics and will update with the recipe later on today. (I forgot it at home)

Final Challenge #24 In The Garden

Well Ladies what better way to end our time with Paper Creations Ink but with images from our own Miranda Van Den Bosch. The winner from this challenge will win the three (3) digi's used in this Challenge.  So go to PCI's blog, check out the details and come join us.

It is with much sadness that we need to say goodbye to PCI as Sara and Michael worked so hard to birth this great adventure for all of us to take. I will be ever grateful to them for the opportunity to grow and learn from not only them but from all the wonderful ladies on our team. You all have gently pushed me to step outside my boundaries of comfort and try new and fantastic things. I have become a better person by knowing each and every one of you and I thank God for bringing all of you into my life. I know it's not goodbye forever, but just a temporary time to regroup, catch our breath's, figure out new strategies and then move on to better and bigger things.  So until then, take care everyone, love ya and I will be watching you to see what new and exciting things that you all are up to.

I have used for my card an earlier digi from Miranda and brought the two together as this fairy needed to be a wood nymph :0)  Everything is digi from the image to the background papers and all from my stash.  The sentiment I believe is an older SU set and the polka dot flowers were given to me by a friend.

The Journey Starts

Well ladies, after following Sparkle Tarts journey in cleaning up her crafting area, I've have gotten some really good ideas! Thanks Paola for your suggestion with the cubbies and that would work, mounting them on the wall, except it would be my luck that they would fall, taking half the wall with them as they are very heavy ;0( So, along the lines of Kate Palmer, I think my first investment is going to be a new, old desk. Right now the little guy I am using now is barely big enough to hold anything, much less deep enough to stack things on. I am going to be keeping my eyes and wallet open for a deep desk, with some drawers that I can use as a base to put those cubbies on and some other fun things that I have seen on the web. Went on Google Images and found these for reference....

I love older things so my goal is to find something that might need just a little work but has lots of character for me to bring home and love on and make it a true craft desk. So my journey starts and I hope yours does as well. Take care everyone and thanks for stopping by.

Challenge #23 April showers Bring May Flowers

Well I don't know about the May flowers thing, but we sure do know that April winds bring allergies, dust, snow, heat, and who knows what else here in the Southwest :0)  We went from almost 70 degrees, beautiful weather, to winds, cold, rain, and now back to the high 70's sometime this week. Craft Room Cleaning

I just saw this really fun idea over at Sparkle Tart. Why not join in the fun, inspiration and encouragement as some of us look for ways to clean up, store up, change up, and find that missing room that is somewhere in our crafting areas.  Here is what my tiny little area looks like and believe me I need more storage ideas.

I can see now that compared to others that have tons of stuff, this area does look a little bare. About a year ago we moved into this wonderful home and I had to sell practically ALL my stamping stuff, this is what's left and it is now starting to grow. So before things get out of hand I need to get things ready. There are so many things that I want to purchase but need to wait until I either have the money or have the room. So far the two have not gotten together very well.

This are is in our Master Bedroom behind the door. The wall with the table is about 6' and the wall with the ribbon is about the same 6'. I had all those little storage cubicle on the wall where the ribbon is but I was starting to feel claustrophobic and no elbow room at all. But now I miss having my stuff within reach. My table, (which is 4' x 2') has a computer monitor, plastic storage for my copics, 2 lamps for light, a roundy round that holds my sizzors, pencils, rulers and other misc small stuff.  I put 2 pieces of sheet metal on the wall, then attached some magnets to them to hold buttons, and brads. I also strung a piece of ribbon and purchased some cute clips to hang some of my cards for decoration.  My ribbon is stored on a small piece of rope and is just hanging from a very strong wall hangar thingie.  I am open to some ideas on how to extend my area, store things better and have things handier to reach, oh yes and look pretty as well :0) so give me some ideas ladies, I would love to hear from you.

New Mexico Breezes

I've been trying to get some good pictures of our "breezy" days here in New Mexico and well it's tough! It's a little breezy here on the mesa and sand is flying everywhere. We are supposed to possibly get some snow somewhere in the state and the wind must be blowing it in. This really doesn't look to bad, but this stuff gets in your hair, your mouth, any crack in your window and it's in the house everywhere.  It just looks like a real foggy day, and it's been a lot worse. This is in our neighborhood and if I turn totally around there would be Sandia Peak to look at, but not today, it's invisible due to the sand.

Natural Things

I went looking through my "old' cards and came across this oldie but I still think goodie.  I designed this card, let's see now, boy it's been that long ago. I live in Washington State and had found this tree that the bark was peeling off and was so thin that I had to use it for something so this creation came about.

All I can say is that it was for a St. Patty's day card and it was in my paper tearing days. I usually tore paper because I could never get a straight edge. I thought you might get a kick from seeing one of my beginning cards.  Seriously, I think this was done in the 80's or early 90's :0)

Challenge #22 "Natural Materials"

With Easter right around the corner, fantastic weather is almost everywhere it's time for another great challenge at Paper Creations Ink!!! This challenge is sponsored by Shelly's Images and the winner receives a $9 Gift Voucher. Who out there could not use more images?  We would love to see some "natural thing" on your creations, like burlap, twine, cork, twigs, bark, etc. Use your imagination and show us your skills.

The image I used is called "Hummingbird" and can be found here.  There is a beautiful fuchsia flower that this little cutie is sipping out of that is just beautiful. I wanted to show how you can take a part of an image and use it, instead of the whole digi.

The recipe I used is as follows:
V9, 6, 5, 4
G20
Y04
The flowers, ribbon are from my stash, and the papers I was blessed to find at Michael's on the Clearance rack. They are from K & Company and I love them all. I used some twine and buttons from SU. The flower in the middle was my attempt to make a 3D flower from paper, but, need to work on that technique.  The leaves are a punch from MS.  And of course lots of Stardust Stickles.

So hop on over to PCI, check out the rules and let's see your gorgeous creations. I hope your Easter is filled with many blessings from above that the God who created all wants to pour upon you. Such a glorious day it will be when my  Saviour I shall see :0)

Emily's Card

Here is the card the I made for Emily.  I would encourage all of you to get on board to send some cheer to a very brave and wonderful little girl. Just click on the sidebar and it will take you to all of Emily's update's.

The image is from Dustin Pike that was made just for Emily.  Emily's favorite colors are pink and purple, so I  had to go with this paper that I had from DCWV called "Butterfly & Blossoms" it was perfect for her image. I used copics to color everything, some pearls from SU, ribbon from my stash and the butterfly and double heart were given to me by my best friend.  there is lots of sparkle on this card as it was colored on Cryogen (my favorite) found at the Paper Temptress.  If you have not visited her site I highly recommend that you do. She has specials going on lots of the time and she does have the perfect paper for you. Oh ya, the reason I mentioned sparkle is that when I tried to photograph this with a flash all you could see was the glitter :0), so the picture is a little dark so you can truly see the colors and image well.

Copics used:
RV 10l 13, 14, 19
V 12, 15, 17
Cat:  E99,97, 95 & W1
Horse:  W 5, 3, 1 & E99, 97, 95

Thank you for visiting my blog and I pray that all of you are in the best of health, financial prosperity and spiritual joy. - Pat

Challenge #20 "Spring Is In The Air Challenge"

Can you smell it? Spring is right around the corner. Here in New Mexico we get to celebrate the coming of Spring with WIND. It's a little early but we have been blessed already with days of 50+ mph wind. I think that the state just constantly moves itself from the west to the east. If the Easter Bunny ever decided to visit he had better carry some pretty heavy eggs with him!!! :0)

Our Sponsor for this challenge is the very talented and really great person, Rick St. Dennis! You can find his etsy store here. I fell in love with the Spring images and am going shopping for more. The prize, the Spring Digi sheet that we used to create all of our cards, and there will be two (2) winners!!!

So everyone, grab your Springtime image and join us for a fantastic and fun challenge. Go to Paper Creations Ink check all the Challenge details out and enter your beautiful creation with us.

I have a tendency to leave my cards pretty simple so I can add whatever I want before I send them out. I colored all these cuties with my copics, and the papers are digi from not sure where. The ribbon is from SU! I used a MS corner punch, along with Stickles for my little snails, oh ya some Crystal Effects for the ducks.

I had so much fun with these images and will be using them for all sorts of different cards. Love the ducks, oh and the snails are to die for :0) The flowers can be used for so many wonderful cards as well as the cats. I am so excited!!!!!

"Show Us Your Style Using Your Favorite Technique Challenge #19"

OK ladies and gentlemen I had such unique experience with this challenge. I have always wanted to learn how to use Perfect Pearls and all the video's made it look sooooo easy. Ok, Ok, for you painters and such it probably was, but for me, I didn't get what I wanted but still had fun learning something new and will definitely be using this more and more for a new favorite technique.  I wanted my fishies to be more pearlized but the glaze kinda took it away and you can't see it unless you tilt it waaayyy to the side ;0)

That being said, I can't wait to see what all of you use for your favorite technique. So come on over and show us at PCI your favorite technique and join in the challenge. Ike's Art is sponsoring this challenge and the prize is 5 digi's of your choice. So go to PCI's challenge blog and check out the rules and join us for a fantastic challenge.

Summer Lovin'

Summer Lovin' had me a blast, Summer Lovin' happened so fast. WOW, I know, it's only February but had a request for a robust woman card and this sweetie came right to mind. She is from McMahan 5 and can be found here. Who can resist that bikini? I went pretty simple with the card and everything I used is from my stashes from Michaels on the ribbons and hearts. Papers, heaven only knows, and I apologize for that, need to keep better track of things for ya'll.

Copics used are:
C00, 2, 4, 5, 7
R 35, 37, 89
Y 00, 6, 13

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Year so far, I know I am. God has been blessing my family so much already.  I pray that all of you are using your talents that God has so richly blessed you with. Each and everyone of you is special made by His hands, not as an after thought but was thought of before anyone here on earth even knew about it. We were not rubber stamped out or made en masse, but each one, hand crafted by the Lord. WOW, that blows me out of the water :0) Like our cards and creations. We create each one, individually, no two are the same, but we put the same love and care into each one.

Have a fantastic day, week, month and year.  See everyone later on.

Challenge #16 "Die Cuts And/Or Punches

I pray everyone had a blessed and joyful Christmas and a very happy New Year. I can't believe how the time has flown and another year has passed. But, it's time to put the past behind us and look forward to another year that is just waiting for us to write on it's pages. What are you going to put on yours? Mine has things like better organization, working towards becoming debt free, expanding my crafting talents, living life as God would have me to do. Reaching out more to others and thinking less of my circumstances, having more friends and studying God's word daily....Wow, what a list, huh :0)

So to start the New Year off well, PCI is having a wonderful challenge that I know you all are going to love. Use your punches, die cuts and your favorite images and have some fun. One lucky person is going to win 4 digi's of their choice from Kenny K. How awesome is that?

Here is my take on Kenny K's image called "Scarlett West" and she is a girl after my own heart. What's not to love about her? She is sassy and packin' heat. I still have so much to learn in putting cards together and I look forward to seeing my work at the end of the year and pray there is much improvement.

My copics recipe is....
Boots, Hat & Jacket: B99,95,93
Hair: E19, 8, 7, 00
Gun: C 3, 5, 7, 00
Skin: E 000, 00, 93
Outfit: RV 10, 13, 14
R 89, 85, 83
Bag & Belt: E 35, 34, 31

I also used crystal effects on the glasses, some Silver Zig Zag and Stickles in Pink and Silver. The Butterfly sticker is from the Paper Studio, flourishes from Spellbinders Floral Flourishes, and the flower was made from Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. The papers are all from my stash of leftovers.

So run, don't walk, get those dies and punches out to work and check out PCI's rules and get busy.
